This composition was inspired by the thirteenth-century Polish anthem ‘Bogurodzica’ [Mother of God]. The theme appears fragmentarily and is based on the Ionian church mode in transposition.
The registration should be consistent with the dynamics, which grows continuously from pp to fff.
